Making a Dodecahedron on a Manual Lathe
Superglue. Even tho everything was pretty creative in this video, the moment he put the whole dice on just superglue and "carved" some sides relying solely on that?
My take on this video
Superglue. Even tho everything was pretty creative in this video, the moment he put the whole dice on just superglue and "carved" some sides relying solely on that? I was like "wdym? that's gonna hold it??"
Well :D it did.
I'm not a big machining expert here, but I like watching some fine machining here and there. From my own understanding and some more research, Chronova is very knowledgeable in what he does.
But what I liked even more in his videos is his very visible improvements, even in the super small tiny details. Like applying the glue on the cut of the dice itself instead of the holder piece as done earlier - easier, faster and more efficient. Those moments make the video feel alive, improving as you go.
Again, must underline the tone - chill, unrushed feeling, the peaceful narration and clean SFX. Big fan of work that's done intentionally and thoughtfully about what it should be accomplishing, and, imo, Chronova nails down the tone of machining.
P.S: From what I have seen, the lathe really does seem like "the most important" piece of machining, as pretty much everyone uses it in every or at least every other project in a variety of different ways.
