What is the secret of a good life? Lessons from the longest study on happiness
by Veritasium
Probably one of the more needed topics to spread and get into - what actually gets you to live a life.
My take on this video
Probably one of the more needed topics to spread and get into - what actually gets you to live a life.
And I mean to actually live it. I believe life is to be lived, felt, spent and experienced. Not just "grinding", achieving a lot or developing a career, but actually identifying what YOU personally like and what would make you happy. Per this video, that's very likely to be deep, healthy relationships. Trivial, sure. Just as trivially forgotten.
It's very easy to "accidentally" allocate all of your time to everything but people around you. Reasonably so - they became such a fundamental part of our life that we perceive them as a normal, permanent part of it. But it takes an extra step and thought to realize that they are extremely important, and however awful it might sound, temporary. We have a very limited time to live our lives, we might as well learn how to use it well. Yes, learn, because we don't naturally spawn knowing how to express numerous very necessary emotions and states to make people important to us actually feel important & valuable for us.
For that you might as well first learn what is most likely to get you a happier life - the entire topic of this video. Because, surprise surprise, most of us don't respond to things we consciously believe we prefer. So, not only do you need to discover them by, most likely, trial and error, but also by looking at trials and errors of others.
